What we have learned this week is about The Evolution of CALL and there is THREE (3) phases from the past.

1. Behaviouristic CALL
2. Communicative CALL
3. Integrated CALL

1. BEHAVIOURISTIC CALL
was implemented in 1960's and it is involved repetitive drills and practice and it is called as Programmed Instruction. The repetition of drills are capable to motivate students to not give up until they reach to the next level. Behaviouristic is often used as Audio-lingual method practice. By using computer, it is much easier to do exercises and it helps teachers from 'repeating' because computers doesn't know the meaning of tired and the pronunciation is more clearly and accurate.

Somehow, the repetitive drills towards students might causing them to be bored and killed their enthusiasm to study.

2. COMMUNICATIVE CALL
was implemented between 1970's and 1980's. Communicative CALL is basically the approaches based on communicative that teaches second or foreign languages. It focuses more on how to use the forms rather than perfect grammar. There are THREE (3) roles of computer in Communicative CALL which are;

1. Computer as Tutor - which means computer as the teacher. For example, we use computer to do practice. The examples of programs is language games such as word search.

2. Computer as a Stimulus - which means computer are capable to stimulate thinking and etc. Programs that are designed to help in problem solving such as Sim City.

3. Computer as a Tool - which means we can use software in the computer as a tools for language learning.

There are a lot of advantages of Communicative CALL. One of it is, the programs are easily to get and cheaper 🙆.

3. INTEGRATED CALL
are based on TWO (2) technological development which are

1. Multimedia
- CD-ROM that allows many media such as text, videos, graphics, sound, animation and etc. to be accessed on computer or any machine.
- Involved hypermedia which is multimedia sources that are associated together and students can steer their own path by just clicking on their mouse at the same time pointing on what they are desire to do.

2. Electronic communication
- Computer-Mediated communication (cmc) that allows students to share details or information concisely but also the lengthy documents, videos and etc. (They can use BLOGS TOO 😝)
- It helps in smoothing the collaborative writing.
-By searching (Google-ing), students can find any sources for their assignments such as newspaper, journals, articles, and etc.
